Provisioning and hosting
Cloud and dedicated servers configured properly: least-privilege access, automated certificate renewal, firewalled services, and reproducible setup rather than undocumented manual changes.
What we do
Altura Systems is an engineering company. We design, build, host, and maintain software for organizations whose work matters more than their software budget suggests it should. Four disciplines, described plainly below.
01 · Software infrastructure
Infrastructure is invisible when it works and catastrophic when it does not. Most of the organizations we meet are running production workloads on something a volunteer set up years ago, with no backups anyone has tested.
Cloud and dedicated servers configured properly: least-privilege access, automated certificate renewal, firewalled services, and reproducible setup rather than undocumented manual changes.
Scheduled jobs, data synchronisation between systems that were never designed to talk, and workflow automation that removes recurring manual work from people who have better things to do.
Uptime checks, alerting that reaches a human, off-server backups, and a restore procedure that has actually been run. A backup nobody has restored is a hope, not a plan.
02 · Payment rails
Accepting a card payment is the easy part. The difficulty lives in everything after: recurring schedules that fail silently, currency conversion, refunds, chargebacks, and producing a report the auditor accepts.
One-time and recurring payments across cards and bank transfers, with retry logic for failures, clear receipts, and a checkout that does not lose people halfway through.
Take payment in the currency the giver holds, settle in the currency the organization banks in, and keep a record of the rate applied so the numbers can be explained later.
Every transaction traceable from the payer through the processor to the bank deposit, exportable in the formats finance teams and accountants already use.
Altura Systems is not a bank, a money transmitter, or a payment processor. We build on regulated payment providers and integrate their systems correctly. Funds move through the licensed processor, never through us.
03 · AI systems
A general-purpose chatbot bolted onto an organization is a liability. The interesting work is constraining a model to an organization's own material and making its output verifiable.
We index the organization's real archive, retrieve the relevant passages at query time, and require the model to answer from them. Citations come back with the answer so a person can verify it.
Vector search over documents, transcripts, and media, so material that was effectively lost in a folder becomes findable by meaning rather than by exact keyword.
Test sets and scoring so quality can be measured across model changes instead of judged by whichever example someone tried last. Where privacy requires it, models run on hardware we control.
04 · Application development
Product work, not just implementation. We take responsibility for how the thing feels to use, not only for whether the feature list is complete.
Responsive, accessible interfaces that hold up on a five-year-old phone on a weak connection, which is the device a large share of real users are actually holding.
Native and cross-platform apps, including offline behaviour, background sync, push notification handling, and the store submission and review process on both platforms.
Interface design, typography, and colour handled deliberately, with contrast, focus states, keyboard navigation, and screen reader support treated as requirements rather than as a later pass.
Engagements
You describe the problem. We ask questions about how the work is done today and what has already been tried. No cost, no commitment, and no proposal at this stage.
We put the problem in writing along with the realistic options, what each would cost, and what we would advise against. Sometimes the right recommendation is a tool that already exists and is not ours.
Work is delivered in stages that each stand on their own. You can stop between stages and still have something functioning rather than a half finished system.
We either continue to host and maintain the system, or we document it and hand it to your team. Both are legitimate endings and we do not price one to punish the other.
You do not need to arrive with a technical brief. Describe what is not working and we will help work out what should be built, if anything.
